"Let’s forget about getting over grief, it never goes away. Instead, we grow after grief. We become bigger. Each of us has a specific grief journey."
Dr Susan Delaney is a clinical psychologist, and Services Manager with the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF). She says that in general we tend to hold strong opinions about grief; how long it should take to heal, what helps the grief process, and whether every grief is complicated in its own way. But instead, in her TEDx talk she outlines why our views are sometimes at odds with research.
She discusses the concept of complicated grief. Complicated grief is grief that has been frozen, almost as when somebodies life has ended at the same time with the deceased.
